It all started with a bag of marshmallows and an orange cat drawing, connecting both the child and dad in some creative, organic, playful fun. From those perfect moments of connection and creativity came Dad Purrfect, our pet project that encourages the cat-nection of Dad-Cats (and father figures, moms, role models, mentors etc.) to their Kid-Cats through fun and games, products, and programming. Purr-Fect the Imperfect Moments.
In a society dominated by screen time, worldly influences, and busyness, comes the opportunity and reminder that we must constantly pour into our kids and next generation. This concept is ageless, meaning the Dad Purrfect 4 P's to Purr-fection can apply to generational relationships of all ages. Whether a parent to an adolescent, or to an adult, relationship nurturement and growth doesn't have an expiration date.
Chief Dad-Cat, aka Jeremy Lukas, is your everyday working Dad, providing for the Lukas 5 (3 Kid-Cats, Mom-Cat, & Dad-Cat) while coaching youth soccer, leading boys leadership programs, and teaching at his local church. He is also passionate about a variety of hobbies and interests (Disney, Lego, Christmas Light Shows, fantasy sports, fitness) as time allows. In all of this, we must remember the importance of joy and laughter, and how that can help feed both our Dad-Cats and Kid-Cats in this dog-eat-dog world.
“My father didn’t do anything unusual. He only did what dads are supposed to do—be there.”
-Max Lucado
Be Present: show up, make yourself available, put the screen down and leave the work, at work.
“Always have your toolbox ready; you never know when you’ll need to tighten a loose screw or build something new."
-Chief Dad-Cat
Be Proactive: plan ahead, give thought your approach, apply learnings to "the next time", communicate.
"When life gives you lemons, make lemonade."
-Elbert Hubbard
Be Positive: Life isn't perfect, we aren't perfect, our kids, work, family life is not perfect. However, staying positive throughout the circumstances is like a spoonful of sugar that helps the medicine go down.
“Being playful naturally liberates the mind, opens the heart, and lifts the spirit. Take time to play today.”
-Dr. Debra Reble
Be Playful: HAVE FUN! Joke, laugh, challenge, game it up, you name it. Playfullness is infectious, and good for the soul for everyone, Dads included!
